These terms and conditions govern your use of our website and the general requirements for renting a private hire vehicle from GC Car Hire LTD. By using our website and applying for a vehicle, you accept these terms in full.

1. Driver Eligibility Requirements

To rent a vehicle from GC Car Hire LTD, you must meet the following strict eligibility criteria:

Age: You must be 25 years of age or older.
Driving Licence: You must hold a full, valid UK DVLA photocard driving licence and have held it for a minimum of 12 months.
Private Hire Badge: You must hold a valid Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) driver's badge issued by Wolverhampton City Council (or other approved local authorities where explicitly agreed).
Driving History: You must have no more than 9 penalty points on your current licence. Drivers with major convictions (including but not limited to IN10, DR10, TT99) are not eligible for hire under our standard fleet insurance policy.

2. Rental Agreements & Payments

Deposits: A refundable deposit of £250.00 is required prior to the handover of any vehicle.
Weekly Rent: Rent is charged on a weekly basis and must be paid in advance.
Minimum Term: We typically require a minimum initial rental commitment of 4 weeks. Following this period, the contract operates on a rolling weekly basis unless otherwise stated in your specific rental agreement.

3. Vehicle Use and Restrictions

Authorised Drivers: You are the sole authorised driver of the rented vehicle. Spouses, family members, or friends are strictly prohibited from driving the vehicle. Unauthorised use will void all insurance coverage immediately and terminate your contract.
Platform Usage: Our vehicles are authorised for use on ride-hailing platforms (such as Uber, Bolt, and Veezu) and for local licensed private hire minicab bases, provided the local base is licensed to dispatch Wolverhampton-plated vehicles.
Personal Use: You are permitted to use the vehicle for standard personal trips when not actively logged into a driver app, subject to fair usage.

4. Maintenance, Servicing, and Tyres

Included Servicing: GC Car Hire provides 100% in-house maintenance. Routine servicing, MOTs, and local authority compliance tests are included in your rental price.
Wear and Tear: Replacement of fair wear-and-tear items (such as tyres and brake pads) is covered by us.
Driver Responsibility: You are responsible for daily vehicle checks (oil, water, tyre pressure). Any damage caused by driver negligence, misuse, or failure to report a mechanical fault will be charged to you.

5. Accidents and Insurance

Coverage: Comprehensive private hire fleet insurance is included in the weekly rental price for eligible drivers.
Reporting: In the event of an accident, theft, or damage, you must notify GC Car Hire LTD immediately (within 24 hours). Failure to report an incident may result in you being held fully liable for all associated costs.

6. Fines, PCNs, and Tolls

As the driver, you take full responsibility for the vehicle during the rental period. You are strictly liable for paying all:

Parking Charge Notices (PCNs)
Speeding fines
Clean Air Zone (CAZ) / ULEZ charges (where applicable)
Toll charges

GC Car Hire LTD will transfer liability for any such offences to your name/address via the issuing authority. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable administration fee for processing these transfers.

7. Termination of Hire

We reserve the right to terminate your rental agreement and recover the vehicle immediately without notice if you breach any of these Terms & Conditions, fail to make weekly payments, or if your DVLA licence/PHV badge is suspended or revoked.
